The Witch will ensnare your senses on home video this May

03.16.2016by: Brennan Klein

THE WITCH has already torn through theaters with its oppressive Puritan horrors, but just when you thought the nightmare was over, it's already heading to home video. Lionsgate will cast THE WITCH on Blu-Ray and DVD on May 17th.

The special features on the Blu-Ray and DVD include:

·       Audio Commentary with Director Robert Eggers
·       “The Witch: A Primal Folklore” Featurette
·       Salem Panel Q&A
·       Design Gallery

I'm no hardcore fan of THE WITCH, but I'm certainly excited to get my hands on this and listen to a firsthand look of how Robert Eggers, as a first time director, managed to put together such a cool and confident atmosphere piece.

New England, 1630. Upon threat of banishment by the church, an English farmer leaves his colonial plantation, relocating his wife and five children to a remote plot of land on the edge of an ominous forest - within which lurks an unknown evil. Strange and unsettling things begin to happen almost immediately - animals turn malevolent, crops fail, and one child disappears as another becomes seemingly possessed by an evil spirit. With suspicion and paranoia mounting, family members accuse teenage daughter Thomasin of witchcraft, charges she adamantly denies. As circumstances grow more treacherous, each family member's faith, loyalty and love become tested in shocking and unforgettable ways.

Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson, Kate Dickie, Harvey Scrimshaw, Ellie Grainger, and Lucas Dawson all star in THE WITCH.

Extra Tidbit: Did you like THE WITCH enough to have it join your collection?
