The X-Files filming dates revealed! It’s very close to happening!

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Those of you who’re over the moon that The X-Files is returning will enjoy the following news: It’s very close to shooting. I mean, very close. Like, there’s-no-turning-back-now close!

Via Production Weekly’s official Twitter page, we’ve learned The X-Files commences production on June 8th – one month from now – with filming expected to continue until August 14th. The show will shoot on location in Vancouver, just as it did during the good old days (though it eventually moved to L.A. to accommodate David Duchovny).

Chris Carter is back as showrunner, while James Wong and Glen Morgan return as writer-producers. Mitch Pileggi is also back as Walter Skinner and one gets the idea we should be hearing more casting announcements very soon.

From Fox’s initial press release about the return of the series:

Thirteen years after the original series run, FOX has ordered the next mind-bending chapter of THE X-FILES, a thrilling, six-episode event series which will be helmed by creator/executive producer Chris Carter with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson re-inhabiting their roles as iconic FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. This marks the momentous return of the Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning pop culture phenomenon, which remains one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history.
