There's something deadly in the waters of Dead Sea

There is nothing more refreshing in the hot summer months than jumping headfirst into some cool waters for a nice swim (well, except for a cold brewski or 6!), but Origin Releasing's upcoming film DEAD SEA is here to warn you that sharks may not be the only danger lurking beneath the surface.

Beautiful waters and hot chicks in bikinis should be enough to bring a smile to any fellas face, but add in a bit of blood, a monsterous underwater serpent and Frank the Bunny to the mix and you have the makings of a terror-filled excursion where drowing is the least of your worries. Today we have a handful of stills from writer/director Brandon Slagle's upcoming DEAD SEA, which stars Alexis Iacono (THE PENNY DREADFUL PICTURE SHOW), Britt Griffith (SyFy's "Ghost Hunters"), Devanny Pinn (NUDE NUNS WITH BIG GUNS), DONNIE DARKO's James Duval.

"Dead Sea" follows a Marine Biologist who reluctantly returns to the town she grew up in only to encounter the violent paranoia that has overtaken its locals as they prepare for the return of a serpentine creature said to appear every thirty years to feed.

I'm a sucker for sea/lake monsters. I'm talking mythical creatures such as the Loch Ness Monster, Ogopogo, and the White River Monster, to name a few. In my opinion, there just isn't enough films about the unknown dangers lurking in the depths. So I'm hoping DEAD SEA delivers some great scares that'll make you think twice about taking a dip into those murky waters.

Creature Effects are being provided by Phil Nichols of Facades FX Lab (ARLINGTON ROAD, BOGGY CREEK). Chanel Ryan, Candace Kita, Jw Wiseman, Tawny Amber Young, and KJ McCormick (also of SyFy's "Ghost Hunters") round out the cast.

More information, including a trailer, will appear early this Fall as the film is readied for its theatrical premiere, to be followed by its home release in 2014, so we'll keep an eye open for you.
