They’re here! Poltergeist clip remakes classic scene from original

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

I’m sure many of us expect Gil Kenan’s POLTERGEIST to be very “faithful” to the Tobe Hooper/Steven Spielberg original – if not a downright scene-for-scene remake. The first clip from the film, just released today, won’t dissuade any such expectations.

In the scene we watch a young girl speaking to mysterious beings via the family television set (updated to a flatscreen, natch). Instead of “they’re here,” she warns, “they’re coming,” which is really the biggest change on display. Check it out for yourself below.

Produced by Sam Raimi’s Ghosthouse Pictures, POLTERGEIST contemporizes the tale of…

a family whose suburban home is haunted by evil forces.  When the terrifying apparitions escalate their attacks and hold the youngest daughter captive, the family must come together to rescue her before she disappears forever.

Starring Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, Jared Harris and Jane Adams, POLTERGEIST opens May 22nd.
