Deadline is reporting that TNT has given a pilot order to "Breed", a new supernatural drama from writer/novelist John Scott Shepherd ("Life Or Something Like It"), director Scott Winant ("Fargo") and producer Nicky Weinstock of Invention Film Co.

"Breed", which TNT bought as a spec in the spring, tells the wild and chilling story of…

….a series of brutal murders in the Pacific Northwest and the mysterious race of creatures who may be committing them. Despite his own mental instability, a gifted detective named Cooper Wells embarks on the case, employing his expertise on serial killers. But when the perpetrators start to reveal barbaric tendencies of an inhuman nature, Wells is forced to enlist the help of a powerful and alluring female assassin to track them.

Shepherd, Weinstock and Winant executive produce, with Winant directing. This marks Shepherd and Winant’s second pilot collaboration. Winant also directed the pilot for the Shepherd-created NBC comedy series "Save Me", which the two executive produced.
