Tobe Hooper & Stephen King’s The Mangler 4K uncut Blu-ray details

Some may say that I'm crazy (and I believe them) but one of the Stephen King tales I'd like to see rebooted the most is his short story THE MANGLER (Pre-order HERE). The story is hilariously dark and gory as all hell, and I think a director with the right sense of sinister satire could really make it sing. But as it stands, until the day someone greenlights THE MANGLER REBORN… AGAIN! I guess we'll all just have to keep pretending Tobe Hooper's adaptation starring Robert Englund is, you know, a good movie.

It's not.

But all the same, the movie is a load of fun and today we have word that Scream Factory is bringing the mini-classic to Blu-ray for the first time with a 4K print of the original camera negative from the uncut version this December! The release also contains several new bonus features, including a new audio commentary with co-writer Stephen David Brooks, a new interview with actor Robert Englund, rare behind-the-scenes footage, and more!

Based on King’s short story, this white-knuckle chiller follows

A cop (Ted Levine) as he investigates a series of grisly accidents … and uncovers a deadly town secret that has been hidden for years – a terrifying entity that threatens to destroy everything in its path. With time running out and a young girl's life in the balance, he races to destroy the beast before it's too late!

The film stars Ted Levine (THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, SHUTTER ISLAND, THE HILLS HAVE EYES) and Daniel Matmor, and was adapted from King's short story contained within NIGHT SHIFT and brought to the screen by writers Stephen David Brooks, Harry Alan Towers, and Tobe Hooper. Hooper's adaptation of Stephen King's THE MANGLER starring Robert Englund will be available from Scream Factory December 11th, 2018.
