Toby Jones set to visit Wayward Pines

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

We've been keeping tabs on Fox's upcoming "event series" with a sinister slant "Wayward Pines", just last week alerting you to the news that Carla Gugino was the latest to join Matt Dillon and Melissa Leo in the M. Night Shyamalan-developed series, and today we have another bit of cool casting to share as Deadline is reporting that BERBERIAN SOUND STUDIO star Toby Jones has signed on for a juicy role in the thriller that sounds as if it may have a "Twin Peak"ish vibe going for it.

Here's a refresher on the plot:

Ethan Burke (Dillon) is a Secret Service agent who arrives in the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, Id., on a mission to find two missing federal agents. But instead of answers, Ethan's investigation only turns up more questions. Each step closer to the truth takes Ethan further from the life he knew, from the husband and father he was, until he must face the terrifying reality that he may never get out of Wayward Pines alive.

Jones will play Dr. Jenkins, a charismatic and mysterious psychiatrist who treats Dillon's troubled Secret Service agent.

Based on the best-selling novel "PINES" by Blake Crouch, "Wayward Pines" is coming at us from FX Productions. "The Playboy Club" writer Chad Hodge penned the script, with Shyamalan, Hodge, Donald De Line and Ashwin Rajan on board to exec produce. Fox landed the project, based on a spec from Hodge, after a competitive bidding situation. Fox will bow the drama in 2014.
