Tom Hardy has signed on to play Venom, Ruben Fleischer directing!

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

The last we talked about the upcoming Marvel flick VENOM was back in March when we let you guys know that the plan was for the new version of the character to have his own flick and that it was set to be a hard, R-rated horror movie!

Today we have news that, quite possibly, could be even cooler than that. Today we have the news that none other than (new) Mad Max himself Tom Hardy will be slipping on the symbiotic suit to raze SPIDERMAN!

Not only that but the film has secured its new director as well in ZOMBIELAND's Ruben Fleischer. Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner, who are aren't newcomers to the SPIDER-MAN universe after penning THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, will be taking on the script duties for the new incarnation.

Not that any of you need it but here is a rundown on the VENOM character via THR:

Venom has been one of Marvel’s top villains and a Spider-Man fixture since he was introduced in 1988, created by writer David Michelinie and artists Todd McFarlane and Mike Zeck. The character is an alien symbiote that needs a human host to survive. In return, the alien vests its victim with incredible powers. He made his first big-screen appearance in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 and was portrayed by Topher Grace.

VENOM is directed by Ruben Fleischer from a script by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner and stars Tom f*cking Hardy as Eddie Brock aka Venom.

VENOM is set to hit theaters October 5th, 2018.

Venom was last seen with these two women.
