Trailer for Anchor Bay's monster movie The Rig, on DVD this October

07.20.2010by: Ammon Gilbert

Our genre godparents Anchor Bay are hooking it up again phat this fall with their usual share of awesome (and extreme) genre flicks, both new and old. And we just got a heads up about a new flick that takes a stab at oil rigs (cashing in on the BP disaster?) and features the great William Forsythe and one scary-ass monster.

Cleverly titled THE RIG, the film shows what happens when monsters attack an oil rig in the middle of a hurricane... or, in other words, it officially goes like this: As a hurricane rages outside, the small but experienced crew of an oil drilling rig settles in to ride out the storm. Isolated on the rig, their calm is short lived when a crew member goes missing and an extensive search proves futile. Slowly, they discover that a deadly creature is stalking the skeleton crew, eliminating them one by one. Surrounded by nothing but raging ocean, their communication severed and no way off the rig, the roughnecks try to survive the stormy night with an unrelenting force of death hunting them down.

Kick-ass! You can check out the trailer for this beast below and prepare yourselves for some serious monster-slaughter action. Having Forsythe in front of the camera once again (bizarre facial hair and all) is pretty awesome, and the fact that it's a somewhat timely story is also something to consider.

Directed by Peter Atencio with creature effects by Davis Fandino and Matt Mastrella, THE RIG is set to hit DVD October 5, 2010. Check out the trailer below and stick around for more details on the release as we hear it!

THE RIG's Carmen Perez!

Extra Tidbit: Peter Atencio also directed NIGHT OF THE DOG and DONUT RUN. Hmmmm... donuts....
