Fans of trailer compilations like 42ND STREET FOREVER will have a lot of fun with Drafthouse Films’ latest release TRAILER WAR.
The offbeat distribution branch of The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has teamed up with the American Genre Film Archive to bring this compilation together. The hook is none of these meticulously restored exploitation ads have ever been seen since their theatrical distribution.
The film will receive a theatrical tour this winter to coincide with the DVD/Blu-ray release date of December 18th. Extra features include commentary tracks from Drafthouse curators and an exclusive interview with GREMLINS director Joe Dante, who cut his teeth editing exploitation trailers for Roger Corman. Pre-orders are currently available at Drafthouse Films. For extra incentive, TRAILER WAR’S HD, um, trailers for AMUK and ANIMAL PROTECTOR can be downloaded right now for absolutely free
Check out the trailer, poster and synopsis (which reads like a description of my freshmen year of college) below.
It’s a crippling overdose of towering flames, mechanized destruction, lurking fear, poor sexual choices, and spiritual devastation on an apocalyptic scale. You might want to have a cornea donor standing by just in case…because THIS IS GOING TO BURN!
