Tremors 5

While it was originally pegged for a 2016 release, TREMORS 5 is now headed for a much earlier date as series star Michael Gross took to Facebook to announce that the fifth installment in the franchise will now be hitting Blu-ray, DVD, and VOD this October! Now that’s some good news!

Michael Gross returns as weapons enthusiast and expert subterranean creature hunter Burt Gummer with Jamie Kennedy as his new right hand man, tech-savvy Travis. The pair are joined by an international cast as they mount a battle against the deadly creatures that turns out to be far more than they bargained for.

What can you expect from TREMORS 5?

In this all-new adventure that travels halfway around the world to South Africa, the Graboids and the Ass Blasters are not only bigger and badder but Tremors 5 introduces an additional unexpected surprise that raises the stakes in the battle for survival.

The film is directed by Don Michael Paul (Jarhead 2: Field of Fire, Sniper: Legacy) from a script by John Whelpley (Tremors 3: Back to Perfection) and produced by Ogden Gavanski (The Scorpion King 4: Quest for Fire, Warm Bodies).

Even though the sequels aren't necessarily all that great they do have some fun moments and are at least entertaining. I just wish they could get the surviving members from the other movies back. I would love to see Val, Earl, Rhonda, Grady, and Kate all return to join Burt. Or at least some of them. I haven't seen Fred Ward in much lately and Christopher Gartin has been doing commercials. I wouldn't think it would be that difficult to get them back, even for a cameo.

Let's face it, the original was the best and they started to go downhill after that. That being said there was some fun to be had in the sequels, and the fourth one had a cool idea with going back to the beginning but didn't accomplish it that well. I like the idea of going to South Africa with this. Are they going to actually film it in Africa? I'd love to see a scene where a Graboid eats a lion!
