Twin Peaks welcomes Amanda Seyfried and Balthazar Getty

With David Lynch’s revival of his cult classic Twin Peaks moving forward in earnest, the first big casting news for the show – outside of who will be returning to the series – has broken. TV Line reported this past weekend that big-eyed beauty Amanda Seyfried and one-time Lynch collaborator Balthazar Getty (LOST HIGHWAY) have joined the Showtime series, which is currently in production.

Naturally, we know zilch about the roles Seyfried and Getty will be tackling, as this sucker’s not going to be revealing any of its secrets anytime soon. That said, Seyfried’s role in particular is supposedly “pivotal.”

Widely considered one of the most groundbreaking and influential broadcast series of all time, TWIN PEAKS followed the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town who were stunned after their homecoming queen Laura Palmer is shockingly murdered. The town’s sheriff welcomed the help of FBI agent Dale Cooper, who came to town to investigate the case. As Cooper conducted his search for Laura’s killer, the town’s secrets were gradually exposed. The mystery that ensued set off an eerie chain of events that plunged the inhabitants of Twin Peaks into a darker examination of their very existence. Twenty-five years later, the story continues…

The series is being penned by Lynch and Twin Peaks co-creator Mark Frost for a 2016 debut. A rumored 18 episodes will be filmed in Washington State, all with Lynch at the helm.
