Universal has a Secret

Last Updated on July 26, 2021

News dropped over at IESB today that Universal Pictures has optioned the film rights to Dark Horse Comics’ THE SECRET, and have even hired a writer to bring the comic to life (for the big screen).

According to IESB, Universal has hired Scott Milam to pen the adaptation of the four part comic series, which told the story of Tommy Morris who was invited to party with the social elite of Franklin High and maybe even hook up with the girl of his dreams. But when a prank call turns sour, Tommy gets much more than he bargained for.

Again with the “bad shit happens when you prank call someone” movies! Earlier this week we caught the announcement of the remake of I SAW WHAT YOU DID (check that out HERE), which is about prank calls gone wrong. Prank calls? I just don’t see how that shit is relevant anymore. Who’s gonna believe that shit’s scary when we all know caller ID and cell phones with caller ID are an everyday reality for just about everybody. But we shall see how it all works out in the end…

That said, THE SECRET sounds like it could be a lot of fun, and based on the cover for the comic alone, I’d say it’s right up our alley. Sue me, I’ve never read the actual book, but at least I have some time before the film actually comes out.
