Get out the old datebooks folks...RIDDICK is readying a return!

Universal has announced that, yes, Vin Diesel and company will return in RIDDICK September 6, 2013. This marks the first fall release for the franchise, possibly hinting at a darker, more serious tone than its summer predecessors. Word is the flick will also be released in Imax.

From director David Twohy:

In the film, the infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he's encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won't leave the planet without Riddick's head as their trophy.

Karl Urban, Jordi Molla, Matt Nable, Katee Sackhoff, Keri Hilson (pictured below), Bokeem Woodbine, and WWE superstar heel Dave Bautista all round out the support.

Remember it, RIDDICK returns September 6th.

Keri Hilson's ass is RIDDICK!

Box Office isn't where this franchise gets it's money

One great thing about the Riddick films is that they earn in video sales and syndication rights. I always enjoy Pitch Black and Chronicles, and as long as this film follows the vibe set in the directors cut of the previous film, I'll be happy.
