Universal shifts release date for The Thing: Now TBD

Nov. 13, 2010by: Jared Pacheco

Well here's a piece of news that doesn't settle very well. Apparently Universal have decided to slap the upcoming prequel THE THING with the dreaded 'To Be Determined' title as to it's release date. Bummer.

Previously pegged for a release date of April 29, 2011, there's no telling where THE THING will fall now, or even why it's being moved. Could Universal be afraid of some competition? Or maybe they're pegging this one with a bigger date? Right now we can only speculate but as soon as we hear official word on what the deal is you can be sure we'll tell all of you.

At an Antarctica research site, as the discovery of an alien craft leads to a confrontation between graduate student Kate Lloyd and scientist Dr. Sander Halvorson. While Dr. Halvorson keeps to his research, Kate partners with Sam Carter, a helicopter pilot, to pursue the alien life form.

THE THING is directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. and stars Joel Edgerton, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Eric Christian Olsen, Kim Bubbs, Jonathan Walker, Ulrich Thomsen, Stig Henrik Hoff and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. As stated the flick sits comfortably in limbo for the time being, here's hoping that doesn't last long!

"The Thing" prequel.

They should released this movie in Winter, especially early next year. "John Carpenter`s The Thing" could have done better box office, if it was released in the winter of 1982 or early winter of 1983.

Booo!

One of my 2011 most anticipated. Hopefully it still gets released next year, and still goes to theaters. Maybe October?
