Upcoming sci-fi graphic novel Anomaly already has a flick in the works?!

So it’s a good sign when a graphic novel is chosen to get the big screen treatment before it even hits shelves, right? Let’s hope so because that’s the case with Skip Brittenham and Brian Haberlin’s ANOMALY!

Now before I get any further let me just point out that the picture to the right has nothing at all to do with this project… but it says ‘Anomaly’ and it looks pretty cool so I ran with it. Now that that’s out of the way let’s get to this new project!

Set to hit shelves this October, ANOMALY will be a 370-page hardcover book that’s touted as the longest full-color original graphic novel ever published. It will also be released as a stand-alone tablet app narrated by actors including Vincent Corazza, Nana Visitor, Olivia D’Abo, Dave Fennoy, Keith Szarabajka, Hudson Leick and Anthony Cistaro. The tablet will be available for multiple platforms and sport many interactive features. Here’s the rundown:

“Anomaly,” illustrated by Haberlin and Geirrod Van Dyke, is set in the year 2717 with most humans living in off-world colonies and a single corporation, the Conglomerate, routinely conquering other planets to steal their resources. The story follows a group of explorers who embark on a diplomatic mission to a mysterious planet, only to find themselves embroiled in a conflict involving its exotic inhabitants.

The graphic novel’s creators Brittenham and Haberlin worked with academicians in philosophy, religion and science to develop the story’s cultural landscape and planetary functions based on actual historical and scientific facts. The stand-alone tablet app will be available for multiple platforms and sport many interactive features. Pretty detailed, no?

All we know about the feature adaptation of ANOMALY is that Joe Roth is the one behind it. I suppose that works. Hopefully once this thing hits shelves we’ll get more news on the big screen adaptation. Until then why don’t you spit some bullets below and let us know if you’re jiving with ANOMALY!?
