Warner Bros. announces Martin Scorsese-produced Joker origin movie!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

We've got some awesome breaking news for you guys here tonight. Warner Bros. just announced that Martin Scorsese will be producing a JOKER origin movie!

The film is in early development, but we can confirm that the film is set to be co-written and directed by THE HANGOVER's Todd Phillips, who will be penning the script alongside Scott Silver (8 MILE).

This JOKER origin flick will be the first under a new banner that Warner Bros. hasn't announced the title of yet, but the idea behind it is that DC will be able to create new storylines with different actors.

Meaning this new Joker will NOT be played by Jared Leto.

On top of all that, Deadline is reporting the new movie's intention will be to tell an original Joker origin tale, set in early-’80s Gotham City. The new take will be "gritty and grounded hard-boiled crime film".

Just like all of the other films by Scorsese.

Who would YOU like to see cast as a young Joker in this new flick? Make sure to let us know in the new comments section below, or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

The UNTITLED JOKER ORIGIN FILM is currently being written by Phillips and Silver.

Let's go a little more "horror" this time around.
