Want to check out the screenplay for what could've been Deadgirl 2?

01.19.2012by: Jared Pacheco
It's funny how things work out isn't it? Just the other day I was talking with some friends about the twisted genre flick DEADGIRL and here I am today with news regarding it's sequel. Actually I should say lack-of-news...

You see DEADGIRL scribe Trent Haaga had penned a screenplay for the potential sequel to the film but it seems things have fallen apart. According to the scribe "the outcome wasn't pretty and I don't think that a sequel will ever get made." Well bummer... But alas Haaga does have a parting gift for us!

The screenwriter decided that he didn't want his DEADGIRL 2 script to go to waste so he's gone and tossed it up on his blog for your viewing pleasure. That's right folks! The script for DEADGIRL 2 is available right over HERE. To check out the rest of the blog head right over HERE. Peep a bit of what Haaga had to say:

"But I did write a script for it. I always saw the original DEADGIRL as a condemnation of misogyny as opposed to being misogynous - the boys were the monsters, not the "monster" of the title. But a lot of people didn't see it that way. My idea for the sequel was to try and tell a story from the point of view of a female outcast and what would happen if she found the DEADGIRL this time ... instead of using the DEADGIRL for the impetus of her sexual fantasies, what if she used the DEADGIRL for her revenge fantasies instead? I also wanted to put the story back into the "really small rural town" where the first one was supposed to take place (we shot the first movie in Los Angeles and while it looks a lot like "anytown," it didn't capture that economic desperation that I was hoping for ... desperation that would have added to the boys bizarre and angry choices). What I ended up writing could maybe be described as "Precious meets The Pit with a zombie attack dog." "

So there you have it folks. A shame we won't ever see this sequel come to fruition but I suppose getting a look at the script is the next best thing, right? So check that shite out at the link above and be sure to spit some bullets below with what you thought!
