Warner Bros. decide to push exorcism flick The Seventh Son back 8 months!

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

A couple months ago we finally got our first look at Warner Bros.’ upcoming exorcism romp THE SEVENTH SON in the concept art you see above. Now that was pretty exciting right? Here’s a flick we’ve been talking about for a while now and we’ve finally got our first look at it… well kind of. Things looked like they were shaping up for THE SEVENTH SON. Right? Wrong!

Word coming in from Variety today has Warner Bros. pushing THE SEVENTH SON’s release back eight months. Eight months! Previously scheduled to be released on February 15, 2013, the film will now hit theaters on October 18, 2013. That can’t be good… It never feels good when a flick is pushed back, nevermind when it’s pushed back almost a year! Here’s hoping it’s for good reason. At least it’s closer to Halloween right?

In a time long past, an evil is about to be unleashed that will reignite the war between the forces of the supernatural and humankind once more. Master Gregory is a knight who had imprisoned the malevolently powerful witch, Mother Malkin, centuries ago. But now she has escaped and is seeking vengeance. Summoning her followers of every incarnation, Mother Malkin is preparing to unleash her terrible wrath on an unsuspecting world. Only one thing stands in her way: Master Gregory.

In a deadly reunion, Gregory comes face to face with the evil he always feared would someday return. Now he has only until the next full moon to do what usually takes years: train his new apprentice, Tom Ward to fight a dark magic unlike any other. Man’s only hope lies in the seventh son of a seventh son.

The Sergei Bodrov film will star Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, Ben Barnes, Alicia Vikander, Antje Traue, Olivia Williams (below) and Kit Harington. Alright folks so it looks like we’ve got quite some time until THE SEVENTH SON heads our way. Let’s at least hope for some more goods from this one soon.

In the same article it’s announced that Warner Bros. will also be pushing back the adaptation of young-adult novel BEAUTIFUL CREATURES from February 1, 2013 to February 15, 2013 to fill the slot vacated by SEVENTH SON. At least that one is only a couple weeks and not eight months.
