Wes Craven’s Summer of Fear starring Linda Blair hits Blu-ray this Summer

Back in 1978 master of horror, Wes Craven directed a made-for-TV flick starring Linda Blair called STRANGER IN OUR HOUSE. The film has since been released as SUMMER OF FEAR and it seems like that's the title which eventually stuck. I haven't seen the film yet myself, but being a mega Wes Craven fan it just made my list of flicks to see asap.

The film was based on the teen thriller novel by Lois Duncan, who is famous you could say for writing the teen horror novel I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER was based on. STRANGER IN OUR HOUSE premiered on NBC on Halloween night back in 1978 and now we are getting news the flick will finally be hitting Blu-ray in the near future.

Music Box Films Home Entertainment acquired U.S. domestic rights to the film and it will be released under the Doppelgänger Releasing banner this Summer. Thirty-nine years after it premiered on NBC. The film will be hitting Blu-ray with a Special Collector’s Edition alongside a DVD and VOD release and will contain a slew of special features that will be announced at a later date.

SUMMER OF FEAR synopsis:

Based on the best-selling young adult novel by Lois Duncan of You Know What I Did Last Summer fame, Wes Craven’s Summer of Fear tells the tale of plucky teenaged Rachel (Linda Blair) whose life is turned dangerously upside down when her cousin Julie (Lee Purcell) moves in following the death of her parents in a car crash. Julie enchants everyone in the family and appears to be a loving relative, but Rachel knows her cousin is up to something creepy…something like witchcraft!

SUMMER OF FEAR is directed by Wes Craven from a script by Glenn M. Benest and Max A. Keller based off the book by Lois Duncan. The film stars Linda Blair, Lee Purcell, Jeff East and Fran Drescher.

SUMMER OF FEAR hits Blu-ray, DVD, and VOD this Summer.
