One of the more exciting TV shows headed our way in 2014 is Showtime's upcoming "Penny Dreadful", and the network has started up a fantastic video production blog that gives us a little behind-the-scenes taste of what's to come. In the first chapter we get to see the producers, a look at the set, and find out just what is "Penny Dreadful".
Back in October we got to see the first look at Josh Hartnett's character Ethan Chandler, a charming American who finds himself trapped in the darkest corners of Victorian London. Click HERE to take a peek at Hartnett on the set of the show in case you missed it. "Penny Dreadful" will also star Eva Green, Timothy Dalton, Rory Kinnear, Harry Treadaway, Reeve Carney and “Doctor Who’s” Billie Piper who was just recently added to the cast. She is set to play an Irish immigrant trying to escape a dark past.
The series draws from famous works of literature, posing that some of the most terrifying protagonists — Dr. Frankenstein and his creature, Dorian Gray, Dracula’s Van Helsing and more — come together in Victorian London.
"Penny Dreadful" was written and executive produced by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan and executive produced by Logan's Desert Wolf Productions, along with Oscar winner Sam Mendes and Neal Street's Pippa Harris. The Show will have 8 episodes and will start shooting this fall in London and will air in 2014.
