The horror world was sent buzzing a few months back when we learned that Millenium Films and Lionsgate had plans to bring us another chapter in the long-running TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE franchise with a prequel that would center on the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface's teenage years. Now it seems this prequel is revving up as Seth M. Sherwood is set to pen the screenplay and Millenium has set their sights on a shortlist of directors to tackle the project.

Our brothers-in-blood over at Bloody Disgusting are sharing that Millennium has been taking meetings with directors over the past few weeks, and they’re targeting a couple of directing duos to handle LEATHERFACE.

According to BD, Millennium’s top choices are Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, the duo behind the slasher masterpiece INSIDE (À l’intérieur), as well as LIVIDE and the forthcoming AMONG THE LIVING. That's certainly an interesting choice as their previous films have proven they can deliver both the suspense and the gore to make fans of the TCM franchise happy.

Also on Millennium’s radar are Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer, who helmed the indie STARRY EYES, to be released by MPI/Dark Sky Films this coming November. I've yet to check out STARRY EYES but the buzz on it has been positive.

Neither party has signed on as of yet, but we'll keep an ear to the ground on this one and keep you in the loop as we hear news regarding LEATHERFACE.
