Will the Poltergeist remake haunt us in 3D? Star Jared Harris says it will!

"They're here!" and they're coming at us in 3D!

We've known for a while that a remake/reboot of Tobe Hooper's classic haunter POLTERGEIST was coming our way, most recently learning that Twentieth Century Fox has scheduled the Gil Kenan-helmed film for a February 13, 2015 release date. Now star Jared Harris (THE QUIET ONES) has revealed that POLTERGEIST will haunt us in 3D.

In an interview with Beyond the Trailer, Harris was talking about the differences between American and British horror, saying that the main difference is the bigger budgets available to the former, nonchalantly adding…

"Poltergeist is in 3D."

While we haven't heard that the remake/reboot would be released in 3D, this really isn't surprising news. The question now is was the film shot in 3D or will it be post-converted? Let's hope for the former as post-converted 3D doesn't really do it for a lot of filmgoers as it comes off too flat and dark when projected.

In the remake, Harris will be playing a character named Carrigan, who is the host of a TV show called Haunted House Cleaners. Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt also star in the Sam Raimi-produced film, which centers on the Bowen family, whose suburban home is invaded by angry spirits.

Saxon Sharbino, Kennedi Clements, Kyle Catlett, and Jane Adams also star. Gil Kenan is directing from a script by David Lindsay-Abaire with Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert producing through their Ghost House Pictures banner with Roy Lee.
