World War Z 2 starts shooting June 2019

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

We all know by this point in time that director David Fincher (ZODIAC, SEVEN, FIGHT CLUB) is getting all set and ready to roll on a sequel to the hit PG-13 zombie epic WORLD WAR Z starring Brad Pitt. We know this. However, the production has been plagued with false starts and stops seemingly from the get-go, so where does WORLD WAR Z 2 officially stand as of today?

Well as it turns out, the sequel's producers Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner were recently on the red carpet promoting their movie BEAUTIFUL BOY and were quickly asked the status of WORLD WAR Z 2 and Dede said, "We're starting the shoot in June."

I wasn't the world's biggest fan of the original film and found it to be an extremely weak adaptation of the source material. As a standalone movie, it was still more than lackluster, but all that said, the addition of Fincher for this sequel makes it a must-see in my eyes. Fincher vs. Zombies??? I'm there!

The original film began

When former U.N. investigator Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) and his family get stuck in urban gridlock, he senses that it's no ordinary traffic jam. His suspicions are confirmed when, suddenly, the city erupts into chaos. A lethal virus, spread through a single bite, is turning healthy people into something vicious, unthinking and feral. As the pandemic threatens to consume humanity, Gerry leads a worldwide search to find the source of the infection and, with luck, a way to halt its spread.
