One thing ...

I loved the movie mostly. I'm not confused as to why the Jockey didn't die in the cockpit like others are, because they're from different worlds and all, but still think its dumb that they didn't just keep this movie set on the same planet as Alien/Aliens.

Some dumb character moves were abound but, whatever. Qustions were left unanswered, but again, whatever. With questions so large in scope and importance, isn't it better to leave it unanswered? Let each viewer's mind fill in the

Now, the one thing that I am still unsure of is (and maybe someone can better explain it to me. I'll probably feel dumb when someone does) why does David infect that fella with his drink? I keep thinking I missed something, because something that big HAD to have been explained but for the life of me, I can't come up with an answer.

You're not alone - it's one of the things I'm struggling to wrap my head round as well as it didn't seem to serve any purpose to plot or to any character other than maybe try give the audience a reason to want Vickers dead (it didn't IMO I still wish she'd lived - big fail on a real interesting character)Maybe a second viewing will clear it up.

Sheer Awesomeness...

I really do not understand all of the complaints about plot holes and the plethora of minor gripes about this and that. The film was incredible. It looked, sounded, and was acted superbly. Easily ranks up there with Alien and Aliens in terms of solid Sci-fi/Horror hybrids. I think some people expect too much.

I completely agree with you that the movie was amazing in looks, sound etc.. and there's no denying it's braver and more intelligent than most main stream fare even attempt but have to disagree on the rest. When a movie - and it's makers - promise you a lot, you expect a lot. I'm not talking about the usual "come see our amazing movie we've made the best" type talk but they talk up and promise the exeprince and answers you'll get like they did it can feel a bit of a let down in some ways.

If gripes about this or that take you out of a movie then to that person they aren't minor. I really enjoyed it alot but some things did bug me. I really want a second viewing now to see how my view holds up or if I pick up on anything else.

Nothing short of awe inspiring for me. Sure, there are questions left unanswered but i think that the questions I had only added to the mythos. I think its a tough film to sit through if you arent a fan of the alien films, or if your not a general fan of sci-fi, but true fans of legitimate sci-fi should eat it up, like I did. ***1/2 Stars....

Lack of logic hurts

It's hard to turn off your brain to the DUMB actions by the crew and still ponder the big questions raised by the movie. Wendy the retard would have better contamination protocols. Another example...two characters are terrified by a dead alien body. But an alien like cobra that tries to attack one of them three times? A playful puppy to them. Are these the same characters? By the way, this is NOT the same planet as ALIEN. That's a different Jockey...but you you can see the planet from

Plot holes and unanswered questions have me confused. I will need to watch this again to see if I really like it or not. 3D imax was sweet though, a visual masterpiece right from the start.

It might sound an odd thing to say but I know I liked it alot, Im just unsure if I loved it. I want to see it again definately, maybe not right away but soon. It was a different beast (no pun intended) than I anticiated. Essentially it was Alien on a larger scale and different monsters/characters. The film looked AMAZING and the acting was awesome however it failed to answer most of it's questions and those it did it seemed to do with more questions. The actions of the most of the characters

The film looked AMAZING and the acting was awesome however it failed to answer most of it's questions and those it did it seemed to do with more questions. The actions of the most of the characters didn't make the best sense, one character's death seemed to reek of giving in to cinematic rule of kill the dubiously amoral character when they'd make a far more interesting person to follow and despite Ridley's claims this is the director's cut, I feel we will see an extended cut as he definately cut too deep. Random characters appear from nowhere and others seem to jump to the end of their arc too quickly. That said I cant help but like it. There were certainly interesting ideas, just not explored as fully or in the way I would've liked. I'd happily sat through an extra hour of the story to get what I wanted. Ultimately I've been left feeling a bit frustrated, but I do get the feeling when I revisit it and I don't have my high expectations I'll appreciate it more and maybe even love it.

Prometheus managed to meet all my expectations, which was no easy feat. It's both smart and terribly entertaining, works great on a symbolic level, and scores in atmosphere and acting. Smart adult R-rated science fiction is a dying breed. I'm glad Prometheus keeps the genre going.

maybe it's because I went in with high expectations but I just couldn't get into it. It seemed too long. It had horrible character development and those charaters did really stupid things (the final run-away scene famously in the trailer is an example) and the story was not all that scary. That said, it was beautiful to look at and some of the gore was awesome. Still, overall, I walked out on the fence and the more I think about it the more I dislike it. :(

Prometheus is a good movie on its own, but as a prequel to Alien (1979) it has some holes in the story. One obvious discrepancy is the giant should've died in the cockpit. In Alien, the carcass was found sitting there with a hole thru the chest

Actually, ALIEN was set on planet LV-426 and this film took place on LV-223... two different ships on two different planets...

@ Arrow - thankfully I knew this going in and being a series fan spotted the different planet name etc.. but I can see where the confusion comes from. I was left confused as to why go to such lengths to set the crash etc... if it wasn't the same planet. Why not make it the same planet. This film has messed with my head! :-)

a mistake IMO as well, it was extra distance from the original that wasn't needed.
