Zach Lipovsky's DEAD RISING: WATCHTOWER is shuffling towards a release and we now know when to expect the adaptation of the Capcom videogame to arrive on Crackle.

Sony’s Crackle will give the 90-minute feature, directed by LEPRECHUAN: ORIGINS helmer Zach Lipovsky, an exclusive digital release in the U.S. on March 27 before the film receives a multi-platform release on SVOD, VOD, DVD, and TV. We've also learned that some of these platforms will release the film episodically and not as a feature film.

The film stars Jesse Metcalfe (“Desperate Housewives,” “Dallas”), Meghan Ory (“Once Upon a Time”), Virginia Madsen (CANDYMAN), Dennis Haysbert ("24"), Rob Riggle (22 JUMP STREET), Harley Morenstein, Keegan Connor Tracey (“Bates Motel”), and Aleks Paunovic.

The script was written by Tim Carter, who also produces alongside Tomas Harlan under their Contradiction Films banner. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (TRANSFORMERS) is the executive producer.

Here's the synopsis:

The film takes place during a large-scale zombie outbreak. When a mandatory government vaccine fails to stop the infection from spreading, the four leads must evade infection while also pursuing the root of the epidemic, with all signs pointing to a government conspiracy. Politics, public paranoia, and media coverage play an important role in the story's narrative.

Look for DEAD RISING: WATCHTOWER to arrive on Crackle March 27.

Extra Tidbit: Will you be checking this one out in March?

LEPRECHUAN: ORIGINS = Worst Movie of 2014

Yeah so the talentless hack who directed L:O somehow got his hands on a script Uwe Boll wouldn't even touch...

There is no way this will be any good. I don't understand how Capcom could sell off the movie rights to some loser, they just haven't learned their lesson yet.

Sadly a Dead Rising movie could be a lot of fun, but if it was in the hands of competent people.
