Carrie remake and Carrie II coming to Blu-ray from Scream Factory

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Hot on the heels of Scream Factory’s official announcement of their LORD OF ILLUSIONS Special Edition Blu-ray comes some more news from the company: They’ll be releasing the made-for-TV movie CARRIE and THE RAGE: CARRIE II on Blu-ray in the spring of next year.

You’ll be forgiven if you forgot that Kimberly Peirce’s CARRIE from last year was actually preceded by a version that starred Angela Bettis and Patricia Clarkson in 2002. Not a very good movie – or more accurately, miniseries – but perhaps it’s worth another look all these years later.

And who could forget THE RAGE: CARRIE II, which saw the teenaged sister of Carrie White go through the destructive motions after the school’s jocks are mean to her.

In case you’re wondering, Scream Factory didn’t go straight for these CARRIEs without trying for the Brian De Palma classic. As noted on their Facebook page:

On a relevant side note (and in case you were wondering): We did try to acquire the Sissy Spacek classic last year in the hopes of doing a “Collector’s Edition” version and a new transfer but it did not pan out for various reasons. We can’t get them all.

The two movies will make their debut as a double feature at some point next year; no special features have been revealed yet.
