Lost Boys 2???

Normally a rumor of this magnitude wouldn’t really have any place here on the site, but what the heck, today is slow in news, and judging from the source and the info passed along, and the craziness that is Hollywood, it could even be true (though nothing officially official at this point). So take this with a grain of salt, and in a few weeks when it’s shot down as just ‘a rumor’, don’t be surprised.

With that out of the way, IESB is reporting that Warner Bros. has signed up for a sequel to THE LOST BOYS, cleverly titled at this point as THE LOST BOYS 2, with production slated to begin sometime soon in San Diego. You heard me right: THE LOST BOYS 2!

But wait… it gets better… not only is it a sequel to the classic teenage vampire romp that hit theaters 20 years ago, but they’re shooting it with plans for a straight to DVD release (no theatrical treatment here!), and…. instead of a biker gang of vampires, these ‘lost boys’ are a gang of… surfers. Yes, surfing vampires.

I know. It sounds freaking ridiculous. So ridiculous, in fact, that it sounds… true. While hybriding POINT BREAK with vampires instead of bank robbers sounds like a cool concept, it may be hard to execute… especially considering the fact that they could only be surfing at night. But I guess only time will tell before we’re able to really see if they were able to pull it off or not!

Odd that the WB decided that NOW is the time to bust out a sequel to THE LOST BOYS, as I think it’s a sequel that’s been sought after for the last 20 years, but that’s neither here nor there. It’s happening (that is, until this rumor is shot down), and that’s all that’s important at this point.
