Vinyan trailer!

Last Updated on July 27, 2021

Here we have the bizarre trailer for VINYAN. The music is a little overbearing, but the images have a very eerie, almost APOCALYPSE NOW-esque quality. Yes, that means check it out.

Paul and Janet Behlmer are in Bangkok grieving over the loss of their son during a tsunami disaster. Hanging onto the fact that his body has never been discovered, Janet desperately clings to the idea that pirates might have kidnapped their kid in the confusion that followed the catastrophe. Looking for someone to guide them in the Thai underworld, they bribe their way to a mysterious Mr. Gao, who takes them to Ranong, where a mercenary supplies them with a boat and crew to explore the pirate-infested shores of Burma. Slowly, they will lose themselves into a strange child-infested jungle and to their inner demons.

The film was director by Fabrice du Welz, who made the very unnerving CALVAIRE (you’ll never think about kidnapping a singer and dressing him up like your late wife again, I’ll say that much.) Adding to the tasty stew: it was co-written by Oliver Blackburn, director of the much-anticipated DONKEY PUNCH.. It stars Rufus Sewell and the lovely Emmanuelle Béart.

VINYAN looks very good, so hopefully we’ll get word of a release date soon. (It’s due to hit France on October 1.)
