Independent movies that try to ape the Charlie Kaufman aesthetic always have high potential, and a lot of the times work out, like AMERICAN SPLENDOR. But it’s wrong of me to categorize a film as Kaufmanesque just because it’s paranoid and eccentric. That’s typical Hollywood indie quirk, and the film YOUR NAME HERE fits very nicely into this category, judging by the poster. The film stars Bill Pullman in a biopic of sci-fi author William J. Frick. It’s set in the final days of his life, when he was dead broke and trying to finish a literary masterpiece. Apparently he ends up living it. See what I mean by Kaufmanesque?
