Jason Blum on which films will be rated R or edited down to PG-13

Let me say this outright that I am not against PG-13 horror. Sure I'll roll my eyes at the rating here and there, but after Sam Raimi's DRAG ME TO HELL , I don't write off PG-13 as inherently a bad thing. Case in point, Blumhouse's H APPY DEATH DAY and INSIDIOUS . Both are quality fright flicks that are either scary as shit or fun as hell, and both sport...

Happy Death Day scores $100 million worldwide box-office

I was really looking forward to Blumhouse's time-loop slasher flick HAPPY DEATH DAY when I first heard about it. Then I saw the babyface mask and was all aboard. But then the flick was slapped with a PG-13 rating from the MPAA and most if not all of my enthusiasm for the film was gone. I have nothing against a PG-13 horror movie ( DRAG ME TO HELL taught me that lesson) but...

Happy Death Day hits Blu-ray this January

I'm a big fan of 80's slasher flicks like HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME so it was with this in mind I was excited to check out Blumhouse's throwback HAPPY DEATH DAY.  But then the film's PG-13 rating was announced and I saw the trailer. Then I was left thinking the film was more PROM NIGHT (2008) than PROM NIGHT (1980) . Am I wrong? I still plan to find out....

Danielle Harris's connection to the HALLOWEEN franchise is quite interesting, since she has played two different characters in two separate timelines within the series. With original star Jamie Lee Curtis unavailable in the late '80s, Harris took over as the franchise's heroine to play the young, orphaned daughter of Curtis's Laurie Strode in HALLOWEEN 4 and 5...
