Zach Gilford and Allison Miller join Radio Silence's mysterious Devil's Due

Radio Silence, the four-man filmmaking team responsible for the final segment in V/H/S (as well as a series of clever/scary short films ), signed on to a mysterious horror project at Fox last December . Back then we knew next to nothing about it, other than it was set to be produced by John Davis and it was allegedly "female-driven." Today, however, some casting news and a title...

It's the Booze Talkin': VOD is Great for Horror Fans

A few years ago there was a big announcement by Hollywood studios, and at the time it seemed like the most ridiculous thing I had ever heard: they were going to start releasing movies on video the same day the movies hit theaters. How the flying f*ck does that make any sense? No one is going to see a movie in theaters if they can get it on video the same day, right? This move was surely...

Here comes the amazing big box Wizard video collection!

They were lost in a warehouse for 33 years and now, beginning February 12th and for every month thereafter, four of 36 Wizard Video big box VHS cassettes will go on sale. Each cassette will contain the original program newly duplicated on VHS in a black clam shell which will be in the original box. Each box will be numbered based on quantities found. V/H/S and You're Next helmer Adam Wingard set for The Guest

With entries in the anthologies V/H/S and THE ABCs OF DEATH behind them, and S-VHS and the long-awaited YOU'RE NEXT coming out later this year, director Adam Wingard and his writer Simon Barrett have set their sights on their next feature, a dark action thriller called THE GUEST . The film will focus on a soldier on leave who befriends the family of a fallen comrade, only to...

Take it back to old school VHS horror with the indie Video Tape Terror

There is just something about DIY backyard horror filmmaking that makes me smile. While the budgets are typically nonexistant, the acting subpar, the special effects laughable, and the camerawork seemingly begging for a tripod shot, every now and again some filmmaker comes up with a halfway decent approach to making their no-budget fright flick work. Today we have a glimpse at Nick...

Sundance hit S-VHS picked up by Magnolia

Word out of Park City is that the Sundance hit S-VHS has just found a buyer and it is none other than genre-friendly distributor Magnolia Pictures. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Magnolia Pictures has acquired U.S. rights to the horror film S-VHS for more than $1 million. S-VHS is a follow-up to the 2012 Sundance selection V/H/S and centers on private investigators who...

Review: S-VHS (Sundance 2013)

PLOT: Two detectives investigating a missing persons case find themselves trapped in an abandoned house full of VHS tapes, each containing a different horrific tale. REVIEW: After shocking the Sundance midnight crowd last year with VHS, the Bloody Disgusting Films gang is back with a follow-up, S-VHS, which, as the title suggests- is like the first VHS- but “super”....

V/H/S will get a re-release on VHS

We reported a while back that V/H/S was getting the video tape treatment in the UK. Now it seems that us Yanks are about to enjoy the same privilege. Timed to coincide with the Sundance premiere of S-V/H/S, last year's anthology horror hit will be arriving on its titular format in North America. Though there are few details regarding the VHS release of V/H/S, we do have a nice...

The teaser for S-VHS is here; dare you press play?

One year after V/H/S premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, its sequel S-VHS is ready to do the same. The found footage anthology is set to debut this Saturday in Park City, and to ramp up the anticipation, a teaser trailer has just debuted (courtesy of EW). I may not have liked the first one very much (check my review HERE ), but I'm still curious to see the follow-up....

Radio Silence signs on to horror project at Fox

Okay, V/H/S fans, I admit I still haven't seen the flick but I do know the filmmaking collective Radio Silence made waves with their episode, "10/31/98." This in turn has scored them a lucrative gig directing a yet-to-be-titled project for producer John Davis at Fox. How high profile is it? Well, if Fox told you, they'd probably have to kill you. Or maybe just not go ahead...
