Hulk trailer online! Mar. 12, 2008

UPDATE! iFilm has the trailer for all of us non-US citizens.

What a treat! I seem to be one of the only people around who is rooting for this movie and wouldn't you know it, after looking forward to it all day, MTV have done a massive number on me and forbidden that it be seen by anyone outside of America! For all of you lucky sons of bitches who are there, you can check out the exclusive trailer over HERE. Me? Don't worry about me, I'm gonna go watch The Sopranos. Who needs this stupid movie. The only way I'll be interested now is if the movie is about Norton using his Gamma strength to hunt down that hip-hop kid that shot Edward Furlong, since -- oh, who am I kidding I desperately want to see this freaking thing. Tell me about it in the strike-backs. In other news, I hate England.

THE INCREDIBLE HULK is directed by Louis Leterrier (THE TRANSPORTER) and stars Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, Tim Roth and William Hurt. It hits theaters on June 13th.

Extra Tidbit: Today, I've officially been working for JoBlo.com for one year!

I totally agree with nickdoll about combining stunt work or practical effects and cgi instead of having long CGI heavy sequences. George Romero said the same thing on his commentary for Land of the Dead.

I enjoyed the trailer, as someone who is always down for a potentially good comic book film, and I'll definetly check it out on dvd and MAYBE agree to go see it in the theatre. If you take away the CGI, keep in mind that then there would be the complaint that Hulk isn't proportionate enough to the actual character, which is a hulking (Pun intended) mass of a superhero. I'm not the biggest endorser of remakes, but I call fair game for anyone to pick up the ball dropped by someone else. I didn't dislike Ang Lee's Hulk, but I wasn't on cloud nine either.

Just remember folks, if remakes weren't permitted then we never would have gotten The Maltese Falcon with good ol' Humphrey Bogart.

looks the same as the last one, even with Nortan.

And the news that tht final battle will be 30 minutes long... God, I'm so tired of overly long, CGI heavy action sequences (Ugh, Transformers and Pirates 3). Give me a short, but awesome sequence with realistic CGI mixed with some good old fashioned stunt work. Don't fake it all, fake only what needs to be faked.

One of the commenters here was right, though, that the CGI looks better in the HD trailer. So people should watch the ifilm link you've posted. Still, I don't think computers are ready to make a Hulk. Also, the Hulk is a boring character. Why do they keep trying to inflict him on us? More Spider-Man, please.

I'm probably gonna' get a lotta' hate for saying this but I'm actually looking forward to this movie more than Iron Man...simply because this movie looks like it gives a sh*t about what it's hyping. Of course, NOTHING beats The Dark Knight (and I mean NOTHING), but if I had to choose between Iron Man and this...I'd choose this. On another note...I don't understand how people can actually refer to Ang Lee's version as a masterpiece. Did you mean a master-piece of sh*t? Seriously....what is it with Ang Lee's version that even slightly amuses you? Huh?

I think this will end up being a more entertaining movie than the Ang Lee film. The plot seems more entertaining with a real drama. Ang Lee's conflict was too existential. I still do not understand what happened with Nick Nolte at the end. However, while I enjoyed the scenes with Ed Norton and am enthused about his role in the film I have to say that the CGI is just ruining for me. My principal complaint with the Ang Lee film is that Hulk looked fakey. This Hulk looks even worse. Like a previous poster mentioned it looks like animation as opposed to a living, breathing, character. Hope they fix it before release.

I have no complaints about the CGI here. Could've looked better, but then the cast and director will make up the difference for me. Anything is better than Ang Lee's Hulk which while written like an action film, was directed like a comedy (Josh Lucas and Nick Nolte overacting along with Ang Lee framing scenes and transitions like a comic book totally ruined the movie, it became a satire of a comic book instead of a comic book movie).

Norton is a step up from Bana and Hurt is a huge step up from Sam Elliot.

" [We released the trailer quite late because] no shots are finished yet. That’s why we took so long to release the teaser, because unlike the other movies coming out this summer, our main character relies on so much calculation and technique. None of the shots in this trailer are finished shots, but I think it’s decent enough and it shows the audience what we’re going for. There’s a different version of the teaser that will only be shown in movie theatres where you see a close-up of the Hulk’s face as he comes out of the darkness and cries to [Betty]. A full close-up, like full-screen. And until we had that shot right I didn’t want to release it. That’s why it took so long for us…I never saw that Superbowl spot [that drew criticism of Ang Lee’s film for showing Hulk unfinished]. I’ve asked for it and they’ve said, “No, no, you don’t want to see that.” (Laughs) Anyway, I would have never allowed anything to come out that I wasn’t happy with."

This sequence is toward the end of the movie. But our final scene, our final battle – unlike a normal movie where the final fight scene is six minutes long, ours is 26 minutes long! So you get 26 minutes of two monsters pummelling each other through New York City, jumping up and down, ripping helicopters from the sky and stuff. You know, lots of green blood on the street, splashed all around. So it’s pretty cool. For me it was one of the most exciting elements of making the movie: ‘I have two monsters fighting in New York City, that’s going to be fun.’ You know, how do you come up with fun, original stuff? And you’ve seen just the beginning of the face-off, with the monsters running towards each other — BOOM! — they smash into each other, and then craziness ensues. Some humans try to get out of the way but no, they can’t… there’s a little bit of collateral damage! (Laughs) There’s a bit of a bodycount. Not on account of the Hulk — the Hulk’s a saviour — but Blomsky is ruthless."

Oh, it is CGI? Uhm... yeah it looks great.
I'm a huge Edward Norton fan but... no good. Eric Bana was fantastic and even looked like the Bruce from the animated series. Plus the Hulk just looked and felt right. In this one the Hulk looks like a villain.
And all the people who think Ang Lee's Hulk is bad, get it out of your head. Maybe you didn't dig the film personally, but if you're a Hulk fan you really need to get your shit together, watch it again and like it.

I really hope they just botched the trailer and the CGI is not done yet and that the movie is actually gonna rock (like it's predecessor).

I've been working in the CG/3D field for almost 16 years. I know what current technology can produce as far as a believable humanoid character. Not sure why these effects studios are having such a hard time creating a character that looks believable.
My observations of the Hulk character:

Much too stiff and rigid
Much too shiny
Not enough translucency in the skin(skin is transparent to a certain degree)

I hope that these are just preview renders or else this is another Gumbyeske Hulk character!

Despite all that it still looks better than Ang Lee's 50% good / 50% awful Hulk film. I'm still excited based on Norton alone. Also just the thought that Robert Downey Jr. has a cameo is amazing. I've always wanted a connected comic film universe.

Even if the Hulk movie isn't great I still think it'll be dumb fun. It can't be any worse than Nick Nolte, gamma dogs, and the Hulk reflecting on the outdoors.

But you know what? I want nothing more than be proven wrong. I love it when that happens. Seriously. Maybe this movie will be amazing and make me like Ed Norton. I would be perfectly OK with that. We'll see.

The trailer looked awesome and I will probably watch it 10 or 20 more times tonight. People shouldn't be bashing the trailer because obviously the first trailer isn't going to reveal many things, it just tries to get your interest. In this case it passes with flying colors.

I was a little iffy at first when I heard Norton was starring in it because even though he is my second favorite actor, I didn't think that this would be his type of movie. After seeing the trailer and hard work by Norton and crew (mostly Norton) you can obviously tell that this Hulk movie will be better than the first one (I also enjoyed the first one).

Seriously I wish this movie was opening in theaters this weekend. I am so stoked, pumped, and excited for this movie it's not even funny. This summer is going to be awesome for movies.

Even though I had The Dark Knight as my most anticipated movie, it is now a 3-way tie between The Dark Knight, Iron Man, and The Incredible Hulk.

By the way rasporange pant, I love how you just totally rip Edward Norton. I mean obviously you're interested in the movie because other wise why would you bother to even post about the movie. Edward Norton is one of the best, most underrated actors out there today and you know it.

In Norton I Trust.

...Really? This only makes me appreciate Ang Lee's version more. I didn't expect anything from this trailer and I got less than that. This'll probably suck balls and then we'll have a reboot of this reboot in 2012. That shot of him falling from the chopper is terrible.

I'll see it for Liv Tyler, William Hurt, and Tim Roth.

Fuck Edward Norton.

I loved the Hulk CGI, Bana in the role, and Danny Elfman's score in Ang Lee's movie, but otherwise I agree that it was a dud. I wasn't completely blown away by the trailer, but I'm not disappointed. The effects don't seem quite up to par with the first movie and even have a "Van Helsing" feel to them, but they seem decent for an early look. Another trailer will have to reveal more. I'll probably see the movie.

i actually think that the trailer looked pretty damn good. you guys who are bashing it need to remember back to the first Iron Man trailer we were given, it looked just as "sloppy" if not more then this trailer. i like the look of Hulk, i just don't like the long hair. overall, it's not going to be as monumental as the bats or iron man but it's going to lend a helping hand to the success of the comic book movies this summer. i'm stoked.

I wasn't comparing this movie to any of those movies. I said that it simply looked good enough to sit beside them and help make this a good year for comic book movies. It looks good, at least to me. And I don't think it will be bigger than Iron Man and I know it won't top TDK. I just believe it looks pretty solid and I see no reason why it can't be up there with those movies, if not in box office, but hopefully quality. And I never mentioned Indy 4.

Congratulations James on your one year anniversary at Joblo!
I for one really dug the trailer. I think the CGI looks fine if not great. Abomination definitely looks cooler than Hulk, but that is because the filmmakers can have more leeway with his design without fanboys getting their panties in a bunch. The Hulk pretty much has to stay the same. Big, green, muscular, purple pants, human-like. He's just not that interesting looking a monster compared to something out of Hellboy or Pirates. But I dig, I think the CGI here is just as good as the CGI in the Iron Man trailer. It's just more difficult to do a human than a robot, and besides, that final shot in the Iron Man trailer where he is walking away and the tank blows up? The CGI on the suit is kind of weak...

Ehhhhh... I'm digging the trailer a little bit, but there's no mystery to it. It pretty much gives away the whole movie... Norton is the Hulk, government wants the Hulk, government creates their own version of the Hulk, their version goes batshit, the Hulk saves the day. Boring.

That said, I actually like Norton in the role, but I do agree that he looks nothing like the final version of the Hulk. Besides that, everything about this movie looks better than Ang Lee's snoozefest.

This definitely isn't on the same level with Dark Knight, Indy 4, Iron Man, or even Hellboy 2... I probably won't be spending my money on it.

This looks like it could be better than Ang's flick, I like that they gave Hulk a well known villain (Abomination) this time, who by the way looks pretty bad-ass, that scene at the end was sooo tight! Directors aren't dictators. That's old Hollywood. Prod companies, big name stars, writers, etc. all work together--film is a collaborative event, especially when you've given your lead carte blanche with the script, which further blurs the lines between [link] And they need Norton--his name, his clout, etc.--behind this film. The point is to revive a dying franchise. Hence, he was brought in and given power--power that he deserves. All of the films on which he may have been called "diva" were better films after his collaboration. I say he's earned his arrogance and his good name.

Regarding the trailer: it's interesting to note the pervasive darkness here, and I like the idea of foregrounding a plot line instead of only highlighting the Hulk. Some good hook lines, too.

Let me start off by saying that the Incredible Hulk will see decent success, and is NOWHERE near the indiana jones, dark knight, iron man trifecta that is this summer's blockbusters. Those are 3 epic fucking movies.. and the hulk just looks like it will be forgotten after this year. I'm sick of hearing that the hulk is "this summer's best movie" or "its up there with the dark knight and indiana jones!" no.. its not.

And that CGI is somewhat embarassing. Knowing that you're making a HULK movie makes you realize two very central things. The entire main character will be CGI, and so will the focus villain. That beig said couldn't they try a bit harder to get some realistic effects? Abomination running looks like a video game character.. he has no human motion... at all. At least do some kind of Gollum/King Kong kind of effects.. mirror the actor's motions.
And that Hulk looks identical to the older one.. I'm all for a hulk movie, but this dissapointed me.
