Kevin Smith and CLERKS 2 got some fancy coverage in USA Today as they filed a report from the set where filming took place earlier this year. Smith has been extremely tight-lipped about details of the plot but lets a few beans spill in the article. For one, it seems that Jay and Silent Bob are both clean and sober. For another, a "calamity" forces Dante and Randal to abandon their posts at the Quick Stop and RST Video to take jobs at fast-food joint Mooby's (at which point the film will switch from black and white to color). Dante adapts to change well, falling for the manager (Rosario Dawson), while Randal...well take a guess at how he takes it. Smith also told the paper that the film may be released unrated because of the content, even if it means restricting availability at major theaters. The reporter mentions "one scene [that] is sure to challenge the squeamishness of even the most ardent gross-out comedy fan." Curiously the article never once mentions the supposed subtitled PASSION OF THE CLERKS - could it have gone by the wayside? Smith has wrapped the film and is waiting word on a release date from The Weinstein Co. (likely a Cannes debut).
