J.Lo off to Dallas
The long-in-the-works DALLAS remake at Fox has finally taken a big step forward as the studio looks to wrap up deals with no less than four cast members. Jennifer Lopez, John Travolta, Luke Wilson and Shirley MacLaine are all in negotiations to star in the film for director Robert Luketic. The movie would reunite both Lopez and Wilson with Luketic who had worked with the actors previously on MONSTER-IN-LAW and LEGALLY BLONDE respectively. If all the deals can be worked out with the actors, filming will begin this October after Travolta wraps filming on New Line's HAIRSPRAY. In the film, Travolta would star as oil magnate JR Ewing with Lopez playing Sue Ellen, Wilson playing Bobby and MacLaine playing Miss Ellie. In its various iterations, Fox has tried to get Mel Gibson and Kevin Costner to star as Ewing in the film but Travolta has been linked to the role for some time. DALLAS would also mark the first big project for Lopez since taking time off to work on some indies including BORDERTOWN due later this year. There are still a number of roles left to be cast - including Pamela, Cliff Barnes and Jock Ewing - that Fox would likely try to fill with more A-list stars.
