Kiefer Sutherland The idea of a film based on Fox's drama/thriller "24" has been floating around for quite a while now and recently, Jack Bauer himself Keifer Sutherland spoke about the film's progress. According to Sutherland, "The script is actually in development right now. It's something that we would shoot for doing next summer, during the next break." The biggest question about the film version of the show has been how they'd incorporate the show's signature "real-time" element. And Sutherland mentioned that the "real-time" will be scrapped all-together and instead the film will be "a two-hour representation of a 24-hour day. That would be the first time that we would not do something in real time, but the characters would obviously all be derivative of the show." He wouldn't say where in the show's timeline the film would take place - whether it'd be prequel, in between seasons or a sequel - but he did say that he thinks there's room in the public consciousness for both the film and show, mentioning "I actually believe that they can co-exist. The series can go and the films can go — or film — can go." Read the rest of what he said over HERE. And check out Sutherland next week as a pseudo-Jack Bauer in THE SENTINEL.

Getting rid of the gimmick
Honestly, I couldnt care less about this. I think i stopped looking at the "clock" in that show during season three. The gimmick worked well when they exploited it frequently, like in season one, but now its little more than a device to create continuity between episodes.

I think the show would be fine if they never showed the clock, so I don't see how this is really a bad thing ...

I'm a little disappointed that they're planning on leaving out the real-time, but it's not a deal breaker for me. I love the characters and can't wait to see them on the big screen, and zagorakis is right. Sutherland has held his tongue too many times for the show, you can actually see him stop himself a few times. "Who the f**k are you working for?!"

Bring on the movie baby! But they gotta make it R-rated! I can't wait to see some graphic Bauer torture of a terrorist. And we can finally hear Jack Bauer say "There's no f***ing time!"

And to all the haters, 24 is still the best show on TV and is as good now as it's ever been.

Crap
Scraping the real time factor kills it for me. I won't pay a dime to see it without the real time.

It can take place just after day five....two hours of Jack in the mens room.

"TEN LONG YEARS! OH, SWEET JESUS!"

Seriously though...maybe this could be like covering the Drazen mission (notice how lots of things seem to refer back to that) or it could be a prelude to day seven or a postlude to day six.

I saw keifer on the street today
He was waiting to turn left in an suv, lighting a cigarette and talking on his cell phone.

Definitely my favorite celebrity sighting yet, especially considering i was doing the same thing at the time.

My idea..
just get theaters to go bat-shit crazy and show an entire season in one sitting!! That'd be a movie...but the comercials, and use the extra 10 minutes after each one as a short intermission...I dunno how many people would do it, but I'm sure there's enough die-hard 24 fans that it would make a ton of $$$

Man, I LOVED LOVED LOVED the first 3 seasons of 24. However, I have to say that I could not watch season 4. It was waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy too out there. I'm sorry, but by becoming oh so very popular and basically making Jack Bauer the new Chuck Norris, they've lost me.

As a huge fan of 24...
...I'm not sure how I feel about this. One of the factors in making 24 so heart-pounding is the fact that it takes place in a day, and in real-time. Though I'm so partial to the characters and love the stories that are dished out, I will probably give in.
