Baby Kong A sneak peek at the upcoming King Kong Deluxe Extended Edition will be available to attendees of the upcoming SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON next Friday the 21st, 4:00-4:15p. The brief presentation will include an introductory message by Kong director and PEOPLE magazine's "50 hottest men to be involved with KING KONG", Peter Jackson. Also, according to THIS Spanish website, it lists the release date of the new edition to be November 15th, which is actually a Wednesday and not Tuesday, which is when new shit is released. Sketchy, indeed. Our crack team of reporters will be all over SD and hopefully they can find time between slamming shots of Jager and hitting on anything with a pulse and "non-matching equipment" to give us the scoop on this "Deluxe Extended Edition". Also, for anyone attending, if you happen to catch this presentation and would like some props, shoot me an email with your write up of what you saw and be the envy of all your friends and family. Thanks to "David" for the heads up.

Yeah, I'll pay that.
APzombie,
Yeah, look, I can't argue with that. The kid was annoying. And the Heart of Darkness thing was lame. I kinda just shook that off, closed my eyes to it. I'll admit, I liked seeing him die too.

holden0013 i dont know what you value in character, I would love to see REAL development, but learning Jimmy slept with monkey's in a zoo while reading Heart of Darkness didn't do the job of keeping me interested in his well being on an island full of giant ass bugs and prehistoric beasts... infact it only fueled my desire to see the kid get torn to shreds.

You guys just don't value character
Honestly, I don't understand why people had a problem with the first hour of Kong. Ok, not true, I understand, but I vehemently disagree. The first hour was character development. If they had've just said, "Hi, you're you, I'm me, She likes him, OK, Get on that island!" Who would've cared if they lived or died? It's only through building these characters that we end up caring about them.

I think the problem with a film like this is Audience Expectation. It's called King Kong, you're not wanting to see a film about a guy and a girl. You want to see the ape! And when you've watched the trailers, seen the poster, paid for your ticket, you don't want an hour of drama. You want effects, and lots of them.
So, yeah, I understand. But I disagree. I loved every minute of that film and have put off buying the DVD as I was waiting for the Directors Cut. Can't wait to see/own an even longer one.

It was too long to begin with!
They could have shortened the entire first hour into twenty minutes and had a better paced film. Now they are going to add to a movie that already had at least forty minutes TOO MUCH! As much as I like Jackson, he needs to just move on to his next project and forget Kong.

Excellent news
I actually will be very excited to see a longer cut. I actually sat in the theater and it was near the end and I was wishing it was so much longer. One of my all time favorite films.

Now where's my "Deluxe Shortened Edition"? I would really buy something that since the normal cut is at least an hour too long as it is.

That's a bad idea. The movie already dragged in the first hour. They should re-edit the movie taking 20min away from the begining and adding 20min after they get to the skull island. Or perhaps just cut 20min and dont add anything at all.

This movie was WAY too long to begin with.

Not to mention the whole damn "extended Dvd" release, after youve already released a dvd is just a way to leach more money.
