Alba and Eye

Tom Cruise's remake of the Thai horror film, THE EYE, was all but dead in my book. Renee Zellweger dropped out, Paramount lost the rights and that was that, no? Apparently not. Cruise and his production partner Paula Wagner have set the horror flick up at Lions Gate and have set Jessica Alba to star. (For the trivia minded, Alba and Cruise's meetings on THE EYE started the rumors that the actress was auditioning for the role of his girlfriend, which later went to Katie Holmes.) David Moreau and Xavier Palud, the team behind the French thriller ILS, will direct the film. THE EYE follows a woman who gets a cornea transplant, is haunted by visions of ghosts and becomes determined to find out what happened to her eye's previous owner. Alba would begin shooting THE EYE shortly after she wraps production on THE FANTASTIC FOUR AND SILVER SURFER. Alba recently wrapped production on another post-surgery thriller AWAKE with Hayden Christensen. She's currently filming the indie comedy BILL with Aaron Eckhart.
