Terry Gilliam

According to the boys at film ick, Terry Gilliam's next movie looks to be THE OWL IN DAYLIGHT. The movie, which Paul Giamatti recently joined as star and producer, seems to have a bit of a NAKED LUNCH thing going on insofar that it will blend a sort of biopic of author Philip K. Dick with the content of his last (unfinished) work. The difference might be that their won't be a whole bunch of extra crazy surreal shite thrown in that comes from neither the book nor the writer's life. Then again, we're talking about Gilliam, who's in tight competition with David Cronenberg for crazy surreal shite, so, yeah, there probably will be some decidedly left field original content here, too. One thing's for certain, Dick is one hot commodity in Hollywood these days (hehehehe). Gilliam is reportedly co-writing the movie, which looks to have cut to the front of the line of the many other projects on his plate, the specific reasons for which you can read HERE. Gilliam's TIDELAND opens in New York October 13th.

Extra Tidbit: Before he died in 1982, Philip K. Dick got to see twenty minutes of a mostly (but not totally) finished BLADE RUNNER and allegedly made a complete 180 on his originally cynical view of the movie.

There was a play I saw based on PKD, called 800 words. He was a really interesting guy. The woman that wrote it did over five years of research on PKD's life. The play itself was amazing.

Dude, it's Gilliam. Of course it'll be right. I'm excited to see Gilliam do with this movie what Cronenberg did with Naked Lunch. Paul Giamatti rocks!
