Strike Back below!

Early word on Martin Scorsese's star-studded crime thriller THE DEPARTED was weak. But Marty, er, um, Mr. Scorsese kept tweaking and tweaking and the buzz has been improving ever so slightly since. It's an uphill battle considering the pedigree of the talent involved - Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Scorsese himself - and the original film this is based on, INFERNAL AFFAIRS. Nevertheless, I have faith Mr. Scorsese can pull it off. Today we get a look at the film's poster. Word round the JoBlo campfire is mixed. Some hatin' on it, some lovin' it. I'm a little mixed. It's a good concept, yet flawed in its execution. Damon and Nicholson look like some kind of weird Siamese twins cojoined at the head. And I hate the hyphen they've included to make the title fit. But it certainly could've been worse. Check it out below (click on the pic to make enlarge) and get ready for the film, which hits theatres on October 6th.

Extra Tidbit: INFERNAL AFFAIRS won seven awards - including Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Director - at the Hong Kong Film Awards.

Matt Presley?
Despite the hate, I loved Infernal Affairs and think that this will be good. That being said, doesn't Matt Damon look a little like Elvis in that picture? Maybe it's just me. Ah well, I need to get back to watching Honymoon in Vegas. A-chachacha!

Infernal Affairs is so good i just don't understand the need to remake it. It won't make it better. It sucks that american studios can't handle movies with subtitles or even dubbed.

Hello 1988. I saw this poster, and thought I had stepped back in time. Maybe that was the goal, but it just didn't ring with me.
ALSO>>>
Why would the put a hyphen after "part" and not after "de" ??? "De" is part of the word too. Badd grammar.
But I like de niro. It's just a terrible poster

...I still think this is a bad idea.

For one thing, two Scorsese pictures in a row starred DiCaprio. I *LIKE* Leonardo, and I *have likED* Scorsese before, but together they make TERRIBLE movies.

And for another thing, a "star-studded cast" in a Scorsese picture can only mean bad things. Again, for the same reason as the past two movies he's done.

And finally, this is a remake (snarl) of a Japanese movie (grr...) that came out less than ten years ago (BLARGH!!). Not a good sign.

But, considering the cast, and the fact that this movie has a *contemporary* setting, I'm willing to give it a shot.
