Charlize Theron is using her considerable clout as an Oscar-winning A-list actress to help her husband get a project off the ground. Theron has agreed to star in BATTLE IN SEATTLE, which her hubby Stuart Townsend has written and will direct. The film follows the events surrounding the protests during the World Trade Organization meetings in Seattle in 1999. Theron took a break after AEON FLUX but is set to begin shooting THE ICE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WORLD with director Alan Parker later this year. Townsend had "Night Stalker" set up at ABC last year but the show was cancelled after three episodes. SEATTLE would mark Townsend's directorial debut. Think Chad Lowe is sitting at home right now saying, "Now that's what am Academy Award winning girlfriend is supposed to do!!"? No word yet on when filming on SEATTLE might begin.
Extra Tidbit:
Townsend was originally cast as Aragon in LORD OF THE RINGS but was replaced by Viggo Mortensen after four days of shooting.
