Spielberg directs JP4?

Update: The folks over at "Spielberg Films" checked with Spielberg's office and confirmed that this rumor is completely false.

Steven Spielberg His Bearded Majesty Steven Spielberg is apparently so eager to get rolling on JURASSIC PARK IV that he's considering just going ahead and directing the damn thing himself. He favors JURASSIC PARK III director Joe Johnston but if things don't work out with Johnston (for whatever reason), Spielberg is apparently considering stepping behind the camera to cap things off right where they started - with his glorious, flowing beard. Of course, this does call into question the status of the long-gestating INDIANA JONES IV and considering JP4 is tentatively slated for a 2008 release, wouldn't that mean that Spielberg would have to do JP4 before INDY IV? Further, hasn't he mentioned several times that INDY IV will be his next directorial effort? Could this be a bullshit rumor? Perhaps but it is pretty exciting to think that Spielberg could be back directing another JURASSIC PARK. What do you guys think about it? Thanks to Faiz for the heads up.

Extra Tidbit: Universal paid Michael Crichton two million dollars for the rights to the "Jurassic Park" novel in 1990 before it was published. In today's dollars, accounting for inflation, that would be twenty bajillion dollars. Or something high like that.

why?
I cant understand why a great Director like Spielberg is hanging out that much with this franchise? He has more powerfull talent to do some cool new stuff..but hey, afterall itīs his life, if its that what he want to do.. whatever..

God I hope and pray that he does JP4, although he still needs to hurry the hell up with INDY4 as well. Perhaps he could do a little back-to-back directing (i.e.- War of the Worlds, Munich)...

which part 4 will he do next?
seriously, the first one was a great film based on a great book. The sequels were just that- sequels. Simple monster movies that used the stars from the first one to further a plot that exists only on a "lets see what happens to this character a few years later" story. I love the bearded one, but c'mon.

Johnston is rumored to be doing Mummy 3 instead, so maybe that's where this came from, but it'd be awesome if it happened. Jurassic Park is fucking awesome period, and I want to see Spielberg get another shot. Please, God, let this be true. Fuck Indy 4. It's over.

Jurassic Park 1 is one of the best movies out there. 2 and 3 not... So hopefully he will direct number 4. I love JP.

If Spielbergo decided to direct JP4 then it would shoot immediately to the top of my must-see list until it is ultimately released.

Hmmmmm.....
As much as I'd love to see Steve do JP4, I'd rather see him get right on with Indy 4 truthfully if it ever gets off the ground. I have to say though, if he does JP4, I'm willing to wait anothe year or two for Indy 4!
