Host/Man/Book posters
There are three new posters here for you to ogle and, while a couple of them are kinda blah, if you look to the right you will see something that could potentially kick the ass out of your eyeballs. That there is the poster for THE HOST, a South Korean action/ comedy/drama/fantasy/horror/ sci-fi/thriller monster movie that hits U.S. theaters on January 29th. The movie itself is supposed to be pretty awesome and since it looks pretty awesome and South Korean movies are almost invariably pretty awesome, especially when it comes to crossing all those genres listed above in the name of originality (see SAVE THE GREEN PLANET), I am willing to buy that this movie is pretty awesome. Click on the image to see a larger version at IMPawards and be sure to check out the film's other neato posters while there. And check out the Japanese TEASER and international TRAILER courtesy of the Greek gods at Movies for the Masses (the guys who first brought us the 300 trailer).
As for the MAN ABOUT TOWN and BLACK BOOK posters below, there's not too much to say except that the former is notable for being the first one to sport Ben Affleck's name in top billing since 2004's SURVIVING CHRISTMAS. Looks like not all confidence has been lost in Affleck as a leading man but he's not quite in the clear yet; every remotely famous name in the movie is squeezed on there, too, for good measure. Oh, and the movie may only get a very limited run before hitting DVD. BLACK BOOK's poster is also boring but it's a Paul Verhoeven movie (the first in six years) so we gotta show it some love. BOOK opens March 2nd. Click below for larger versions.

Extra Tidbit: Fu Works, the company that produced BLACK BOOK, was successfully sued by a theater company for taking lead actress Carice Van Houten back on to the film for an unanticipated prolonged shooting period when she was scheduled to appear in a play.

The story is fine, but the acting makes it all superb, you have to love it, especially Carice van Houten.
If you get the chance, go check it out ;)
The Host... =D =D =D Gotta love that poster!
