Another Crank??

Strike Back below!
by: Dave Davis Mar. 2, 2007

Last year's exquisite action surprise CRANK was so outrageously over-the-top that it nearly broke atmosphere and went hurtling into the cosmos. How could filmmakers Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor possibly exceed their debut's lunatic fusion of overkill?

Apparently they're gonna try anyway, as Variety says they "are in the early stages of a sequel" to the crazy Statham flick. That's literally the only information given about this potential follow-up (also at Lakeshore, who handled the original), so feel free to speculate about how another film could be approached. Will Statham's hyped-up hitman somehow return, despite the gratuitous abuse inflicted upon his person the first time? Or will the writing-directing duo present a brand new character forced to endure a series of adrenaline-fueled survival tactics?

Either way, consider my ticket already bought...

Extra Tidbit: The Directors Guild of America only allows one credited director per film, although this is waived for certain circumstances. Robert Rodriguez left the DGA after disputing this rule for SIN CITY, which he insisted on sharing credit with creator Frank Miller.

Bad Idea
I love the first one and this is a horrible idea. I hope this doesn't end up happening. You can't make a sequel to it anyway unless it's nothing more than a copy of the first one.

I thought the original was a fun flick to watch, but I would really hate to see a sequel to this. I mean to make another takes away from a great ending that's already there.

Crank was great.
Crank was great. You guys who are trashing it are idiots. Go watch Harry Potter, you fruity bastards.

As for a sequel I dont know you cant bring back Statham? Can you? And without him I think it would suck.

Seriously, how could a movie that is supposed to be about a guy who needs thrills to stay alive be so damn boring? It was less than 90 minutes and it felt like 5 hours. Dwight Yoakum was the only good thing about this movie. And he should've died.

I enjoyed the hell out of the original but this sounds like shit. The thing that made Crank great was they actually killed him instead of having some stupid miracle cure ending. There is no way they can bring him back with credibility or do the same story with someoen else.

My take on a sequel (spoilerish)
I saw Crank the other week and thought it was absolutely bonkers, and all the better for it. Over the top was definitely the way to go with this, kudos directors, producers etc.

The idea of a Crank 2 got me thinking; following the public sex scene when trying to escape from the warehouse, Amy Smart's character laments not having taken the ‘morning after pill’ but her attempt to take it fails as her handbag falls to the floor, spilling all its contents and due to the gunfight taking place she is unable to retrieve it. Soooooo, what if she got pregnant. And, as Chev’s body was chocka with drugs while he was pumping her, some of that Chinese Sh*t was passed on to her kid (it’s tenuous, but come with me) so he’s born with a constant need for adrenaline, but not in the terminally fatal way with Chev (kinda like how Blade is half vampire/half human but needs to inject himself with some homebrew stuff). Set it in the future, so that Statham can play his own son and BOOM! CRANK 2: CRANK HARDER.

Actually now that I write it down it sounds pretty dumb, but hey, I’m not a scriptwriter.

I hated the original. Absolute trash. I'd need to see some massive improvements as a whole to go see this. Ditch Statham too, because the very thought of him returning for this movie makes me want to see it less.

Crank sucked really hard. It was horrible. I'd see the sequel ONLY if Jason Statham came back (because he is cool) or if the writer/director was changed out.

*Spoiler Warning*
I knew when his character blinked at the end they were trying to open it up for a sequel. I mean, you can’t kill Jason Statham. You can only make him angrier.

bring back Statham!, just use the excuse that he was on so much drugs/crank, that the 30,000 foot drop he suffered just tickled him!
