The Latest Announcements

Robocop (CE) - August 21

The one thing that I remember most about seeing ROBOCOP for the first time was the guy who got dipped in acid and then hit by a car and liquified upon impact. I remember sitting there with my little hair all mussed up, eating my dumb cereal and going, "cool." What a goof. The flick will be shown in anamorphic widescreen with English DD5.1 & DTS 5.1 Surround audio, French and Spanish DD5.1 Surround audio and optional English and Spanish subtitles.

Disc One: Theatrical Cut

  • 102 Minutes
  • Audio commentary by director Paul Verhoven, writer Ed Neumeier and executive producer Jon Davison
  • Flesh And Steel: The Making Of Robocop featurette
  • Shooting Robocop 1987 featurette

    The Host - July 24

One flick I'm really looking forward to is THE HOST, a Korean monster movie that's had some pretty hot reviews so far (read our very own Arrow's review HERE). Quick poll: What was the last really great monster flick? There will be a single disc and double disc edition. Director audio commentary and deleted scenes will be on the single disc and will also be included on the double disc edition. Oh, and if you've already seen THE HOST, strike back below.

    Double Disc:

    • Making of The Host featurette, a Designing the Creature featurette, storyboards, a Puppet Animatronix featurette, a Memories of the Sewer featurette, and a gag reel. Completing the package will be a Film Departments featurette, casting tapes, features on training the actors, and more

Land of the Giants Set - July 24

Not entirely sure what LAND OF THE GIANTS was, but I thought this was a pretty cool looking box set. This is the LAND OF THE GIANTS Complete Series that aired between 1968-1979 in Limited edition with 51 classic episodes over nine-discs. Features include the unaired pilot, bonus interviews with stars Gary Conway, Don Marshall, Stefan Arngrim, Don Matheson, Deanna Lund and producer Irwin Allen, a still gallery featuring merchandise from the show, publicity photos, episodic photos, a Deanna Lund gallery and the original parody from MAD Magazine. The set also includes a full-colour booklet with cast interviews and photos, a collectible Spindrift keychain, iron-on crew patch, reproduction of the first comic book, and trading cards. All this in nifty wooden cage themed directly from the show.

Blade Runner Box Set - ???

The BLADE RUNNER Ridley Scott cut is something I'm asked about at least once a week, and now those people are completely jealous of our Australian friends who get this bad f*cking ass BLADE RUNNER BOX SET. Just look at that package below. Wow, I feel a bit insecure just writing that. Anyway, for the Aussies Aussies Aussies, they get this very cool looking set, but a release date hasn't been given. Neener neener.

    Disc 1 - The Final Cut (2007):

    • Ridley Scott's definitive new version of his science-fiction masterpiece includes added & extended scenes, added lines and new and cleaner special effects.

    Disc 2 - 3 Complete Film Versions:

    • ’82 U.S. Theatrical version
    • ’82 International Theatrical version
    • ’92 Director’s Cut

Disc 3 - “Dangerous Days: Making Blade Runner” Documentary:

    • Newly created documentary: Through interviews with the cast and crew, critics and colleagues, this feature-length documentary provides a mainstream-friendly yet meaningful in-depth look at Blade Runner’s literary genesis, its challenging production and controversial legacy. When all is said and done, this will be the definitive documentary on the film.

Disc 4 – Enhanced Content Bonus: (TBC)

    • INCEPTION - Featurettes and galleries devoted to Philip K. Dick, the birth of Cyberpunk and adapting the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.
    • PRE-PRODUCTION - Featurettes and galleries devoted to script development, conceptual design and abandoned sequences.
    • PRODUCTION - Featurettes and galleries devoted to principal photography and locations.
    • POST-PRODUCTION - Featurettes and galleries devoted to deleted scenes, music and visual effects.
    • RELEASE - Featurettes and galleries devoted to marketing and reaction including Trailers, TV Spots and Promotional Featurettes
    • LEGACY - Featurettes and galleries devoted to the film’s resurrection and impact.

Disc 5 - Work Print Version & Enhanced Content:

    • Including the rarely seen Work Print version and potentially the 52 min.
    • Channel Four (UK) documentary which was the first serious documentary created for the film.

    Special Features:

    • Blade Runner Brief Case packaging with handle
    • Digi-Package with Foil Enhanced and Embossed Slipcase (5 Discs)
    • Lenticular motion image from the original feature
    • Collectible Model Spinner
    • Collectible Origami Unicorn
    • Collection of photographs from film
    • Letter from Ridley Scott

I want that freaking Blade Runner box set, just to see all the versions, and that would fit very well with many other box sets.

Robocop is a classic, I want the uncut version.

I actually heard about this movie a while back and bought it online. I have to say that it is one of the best horror/ thrillers to come out in a while. It is about a dysfunctional family that must come together at a time of crisis. The script was well written and the creature was just a backstory to the missing girl and family issues. The CGI at times is a little weak, but the creature still looks down right creepy. Go out and buy this, you will not be disappointed...

If you were to take a big Hollywood blockbuster like Godzilla, mix it with Little Miss Sunshine, and blend it in with lots of Korean culture, you might get something like THE HOST... but probably not nearly as good.

The monster scenes are awesome and intense, the characters/actors are memorable and interesting, the direction is breathtaking and beautiful... everything's just outstanding.

Plus, it's a million genres in one. Part thriller, part comedy, part family film, part horror, part satire, and part action-adventure monster jamboree (...it's a growing genre). It's got a bit of everything, and I loved it all.

I am so fucking happy to be getting a 2-disc edition of it. CAN'T WAIT!
