I'm not a fan of Christmas movies. ELF? Shit. THE SANTA CLAUSE? Garbage. CHRISTMAS WITH THE KRANKS? Unwatchable, I'm assuming). Maybe it's because these movies are mere attempts at cashing in during the holiday season or maybe it's because they cater to a false sense of sentimentality and morality that doesn't exist in the real world, or maybe it's because Santa never brought me that f*cking microscope I asked for twelve years ago, I don't know. I just don't like them. Having said that, these four new posters BELOW for FRED CLAUS make me hate them even more. The movie stars Vince Vaughan as Fred, who heads to the North Pole to visit his more successful (to put it mildly) brother Santa (Paul Giamatti).

Hasn't the whole elf thing been sucked dry? Are elves automatically funny because they're small and dress like assholes? And those taglines, wow. 'Fred rocks the toy shop.' Someone must have pulled an all-nighter to come up with that one. This is the first re-teaming of Vaughan and director David Dobkin since their megahit THE WEDDING CRASHERS, and I'm not one to be entirely swayed by movie marketing, but there is something so souless about these posters that it extinguishes all hope I had for this movie. Ninja elves, yeesh.

I hate the fucking marketing for this. it's making it look like a kid movie all over it. and why is Vaughn getting top billing over Giamatti?

I too liked the trailer I saw and I also agree that the poster sucked... I think we'll be seeing some bad elfs of the sort.

These posters are terrible
The trailer was great. And I know this movie has to be funnier than these stupid elf posters. Well, at least I hope I know.

Its ironic that this is a Christmas movie since after taking one look at these posters I no longer believe in God.

I have to agree completely. the trailer was really good. If I had seen these posters alone (esp the last 3) I wouldn't think of seeing this. Terrible, terrible posters.

Why?
The teaser trailer I saw of this movie looked great. The dialong between Vince and Paul was funny. The posters are just puzzling. Why are they ninjas?

I hope this is just horrible marketing for a good movie and not a sign of things to come.

Ah, these are bad. I work at a movie theater and we got all of these the other day. Unfortunately, the three elf posters were in the form of giant banners. I begged they not be put up, but alas now I have to look at them hanging up every day....just bad. I'm not giving up on the movie yet though.

just awful
when i heard about this movie I thought it might be ok... but seriously, these are the WORST movie posters I have ever seen. All 4 of them. Like someone said below, "Fred better bring his A game.." i mean wtf, that doesn't make any sense!!! and the "fred rocks the toy shop one" with an elf screaming.. um what.

in otherwords, this posters are so shitty they hurt my eyes

Now, Elf wasnt that great to me, but will ferrell was still funny.. but i do agree about these posters.. like you said.. NINJA ELVES... ? really?.. ha. but the trailer for this comes out monday,.. that might help us judge a little better

elf is awesome

First off, Elf is one of the best Christmas movies ever. Right up there with A Christmas Story. Do not make that mistake again.

As for this movie, when I first heard about it I thought it would be an adultish comedy like Bad Santa. Know I'm just confused. Vince Vaughn better bring his 'A' game (WTF does that mean?)

I think the movie could potentially be OK, but these posters are among the most terrible I've seen, especially the first one. Jesus.

I didn't think I'd like Elf, but I ended up getting laughs from it.

The first poster is the better of the four. It's got the main star, and the elves make a human Christmas tree.

The other three are annoying and confusing. Two are like "Fred is awesome", but the third is "Fred is a dick".

Keep It Simple, Stupid. That's why the 1st poster works.
