Strike Back below!
by: Mike Sampson Nov. 16, 2007

Earlier this fall it was rumored that McG was circling TERMINATOR 4. He was on the "short list" of directors to direct the fourth installment in the TERMINATOR series and now we can exclusively report that McG has, in fact, signed on to direct TERMINATOR SALVATION: THE FUTURE BEGINS. We received a report last night about the signing from an inside source and we were able to independently confirm the news this morning. With McG at the helm, at least you can guarantee a good looking movie. Whether it'll be any good remains to be seen. McG, for all his visual flair, has yet to really impress me, though he did make some strides with WE ARE MARSHALL. Warner Bros. recently gave the film a greenlight and is looking to get filming in "early 2008" for a summer 2009 release. The script by John Brancato and Michael Ferris (TERMINATOR 3) was locked in October due to the writer's strike. The fourth film is described as being as big in siza and scale as TERMINATOR 3 but with a smaller budget now that Arnold Schwarzenegger is no longer part of the production (Claire Danes and Nick Stahl will not be returning either). So McG huh? What say you JoBloers?

Extra Tidbit: Sophia Bush filmed two weeks on TERMINATOR 3 before being dropped and replaced by Danes.

Well i guess I won't have to see this in the theatres. Personally I don't even see this as rental potential either. They can't get the makers, the terminator, or the actors...damn is Hollywood even trying anymore?

The Terminator is James Cameron's baby. T3 was rubbish. I'll grant you that the first 20 minutes of T2 are too slow (though necessary for people that had not seen the first one) but it is a masterpiece of action cinema. I still remember going to the cinema to see it about 5 times! (I also remember that we couldn't get in on the first night and we saw Edward Scissorhands instead. Hmm.)

Oh, boo-hooooo
Ahnuld is busy fucking around in Cally Fornya, Cameron is still working on Avatar, so why not McG? He made Charlie's Angels fun. I trust his take on the series.
As well, I really enjoyed T3, no matter what anyone says. You wanna piss and moan or do something about it and write your own damn script?

Where is Paul Verhoeven when we need him? At least we would have seen a violent Terminator film ala The Terminator and Terminator 2, and not the light-hearted entertainment Terminator 3 was.

Actually...
... although T2 had some great moments, it also had some serious cheese factor and Furlong's weak abilities. The original really stands alone in my mind. Now if they can somehow incorperate Michael Biehn into it that would be cool.... and for pity sake make sure it's R rated!

WHY?
The new TV series isn't enough? They have to continue sully the greatness of T1 & T2? Has anyone ever even re-watched T3 after seeing it once? I haven't. What's the point?

Honestly..whats the point? The original creator is gone. The original Terminator is gone. The actors from the last one are gone. So why? I mean maybe if Nick Stahl and Claire Danes were in it and it was set in the future with them battling robots then maybe...but who cares?

NO THANKS
This franchise ended after T2. Bring back Cameron and his script for T3 and pretend all of this never happened.

Hm, Terminator movie without Arnie and James Cameron? And McG directing? No, thanx.
