Is Jim Sturgess?

The Daily Mail recently caught up with Julie Taymor (director of ACROSS THE UNIVERSE), who spoke of her her ideal cast, for the SPIDERMAN musical that she's trying to make. And apparently it's the same lead pairing that she just finished working with on ACROSS THE UNIVERSE: Jim Sturgess and Evan Rachel Wood. "There, I've said it. Now I have to go through a web to get them... Jim's certainly interested, but his film career has taken off, so I have to nab him between movies. Same with Evan. They'd be my ideal pairing, though, if they're free." Taymor went on to talk a little bit about the show, what it will be like, saying that "I hope it will be a cross between a play, rock 'n' roll and circus. The movies with Tobey Maguire worked on their terms, but the show will be very different... In fact, it's based more on the original comic books than the movies... This notion that you can transplant movies onto the stage is absurd - a theatre show has to live in its own world." You can check the rest of what she had to say right over HERE. So what do you guys think? And what about the two doing SPIDEY 4, since the holy trinity seem to be out? I can definitely see it, does Sturgess have an American accent in him? Evan Rachel Wood, I'm not so sure about, but it doesn't sound as crazy to me as Tim Olyphant playing HITMAN...

Extra Tidbit: Raimi, Maguire and Dunst, of course being the holy trinity.

Wasn't Spidey 3 practically a musical? I mean we had Peter Parker dancing through a nightclub with emo hair. This is one of the most out there ideas I've heard of. Anyways I hate Evan Rachel Wood, replace her with Taymor cohort Salma Hayek. Yeah, it doesn't make much sense, but then again neither does a Spidey musical, and at least then we'd have something to look at.

I still have issues with the idea of a Spidey musical. Seriously? As far as Jim Sturgess goes ... he'll have to prove that he could take on the role of Parker.
