Strike Back below!

I love war movies and I'm a fanatic for zombie flicks -- mash 'em together and I'll take a bite outta that sandwich. I hadn't heard about the upcoming undead Nazi project STONE'S WAR, but it's definitely on my radar now.

The movie, formerly known by the back-rack title WAR OF THE DEAD, doesn't have any recognizable stars -- the most famous name in the cast appears to be the guy who played the traitorous hunchback Spartan in 300, but it's certainly got solid production values. The movie (which will reportedly premiere at Cannes) is set in 1940 and follows an American-Finnish joint unit sent to destroy an enemy bunker, but they find something more sinister (and reanimated).

Stone's War

Extra Tidbit: This reminds me -- whatever happened to that planned CASTLE WOLFENSTEIN movie?

Soldiers versus somethingorother always makes for a decent body count. Is this the same project that had initially haulted production due to a lack of funds? Glad to see it got finished, we'll see how it pans out.

Maybe I'm alone here but... can we move on, from zombie and virus movies? There's a new one every 3 weeks.

Kudos for using the 'Requiem for a Dream' Theme
... it's a great song that always sends chills down my spine.

However, the trailer itself seemed a little redundant. I enjoyed the first half, then the second half seemed to keep replaying the same exact scenes from different angles. I can't count how many times I saw the same dude launching into the air from an explosion in the bachground, and falling down on his face.

Anyway, I do agree disposablepal in that this looks like it could be the next 'Dog Soldiers'... which is a good thing. I guess we'll wait and see.

Other recent undead Nazi films worth checking out include: "Outpost" and "Horrors of War", not to mention, of course, "Hellboy". As far as "Wolfenstein" goes, it would be callous to get into Roger Avary's personal woes, but it would be shame if this project got shelved. Also, it is worth noting that "Stone's War" was the name of particulary sweet episode of "Miami Vice". Balaban-represent!

Looks...
... more like genetic experiments going awry than zombies. Or maybe they are just mindless violent zombies, and not the undead type. Trailer was pretty decent, but a little overlong. Could be fun.

sweet!
I always get excited about zombie movies, even if they seem to hold a B status (this one definitely doesn't). I just can't tell if they are traditional romero type zombies, or "super" zombies like the ones in the '04 Dawn of the Dead remake.

Was that a remix of Clint Mansell's "Requiem For A Dream" score?! Kickass! Anyway, trailer looks really interesting, I'll keep this one on my radar!

zombies and nazis are always a good thing cinematically speaking... but did anyone else see the extremely visible wires at play here? methinks that a great PR guy could be shoving another pile o' bile down our throats....

trailer doesnt look bad, alittle ambitious but it completely looks worth a watch. Felt abit like Neil Marshalls Dog Soldiers, which could totally be a good thing. Just wish there had been some actual speech in the trailer.
