Strike Back below!

We haven't heard too much about ye olde sci-fi tale OUTLANDER, but the new international poster seems to be pressing the LORD OF THE RINGS connection and fantasy aesthetic while downplaying the alien angle.

That's the rather intriguing core concept -- Jim Caviezel is an intergalactic tracker who lands on Earth in the time of Vikings while pursuing a nasty space creature called the Moorwen. Sword-swinging, mead-guzzling and flesh-ripping ensue, with John Hurt, Sophia Myles and Ron Perlman offering their steel.

Extra Tidbit: Karl Urban was originally set to star in OUTLANDER, but moved on to PATHFINDER instead. Whoops...

"I wonder if they'll try to tie this into the Beowolf mythology."

The movie started as a version of Beowulf. But the idea is that such an event as aliens and monsters comming to earth would almost definitely be transformed into legend/myth status in short order.

I was wondering whatever happened to this movie! I hope they discover that the creature's weakness is meade, and get it drunk as f*ck before slicing it open and boiling its entrails. And no, I have no idea where that came from (but it would be pretty cool).

I'm excited for this movie solely on the basis that I have a hot, massive girlcrush on Sophia Myles.

i think i could have put this poster together on microsoft paint. All of these movies following LOTR just fail miserably, and I'll expect the same from this.

Correction: It should say "John Hurt" not "William Hurt" but the poster looks really cool. I actually heard from someone who went to a test screening and he said the creature effects were pretty amazing. (take a look at the upper left... it's a silhouette of the creature)
